BORN FAMOUS - 24 Hour Duo

Me and Sue are ramping up for our 24 hour epic adventure. We have been putting mega miles in. The group rides have been so fun, it makes such a difference if you can hang on for a while. We are doing 95 miles again Saturday on the Shootout and a long mountain bike ride on Sunday. Sue picked the name Born Famous for the team. So I laughed when I saw this old picture of me 5 year ago doing the solo 24 hour race. I thought I was so hot with matching glasses. Sue has a blog, www.susanhaywood.blogspot.com she has been talking about her training in Tucson. I have never had so much fun riding my bike, I guess that's a good sign. Kevin is doing a 15k running race on Saturday and then riding with some of his class mates 30 miles. I can't wait to see him in two weeks.

Sue Haywood Back in Tucson for some training. I made her a lei as a tradition from Hawaii out of a road tube, gu's and bars. We are talking about doing Todd Sadow's Killer 24 hour race women duo. I was getting pumped to race and ride again, but now I am even more motivated that Sue is here. I am going to try to live the Pro life for a while since I work 1-9PM for the next couple weeks. I can do the group rides in the morning. Kevin got a ticket to come back to Tucson during the 24 hour race and he will be on a Corporate team with a few buddies from last year, Eric, Bryan and Joe.

McDowell, first race of the season kicked off in Arizona last weekend. Our friend Scott Keller got the whole shot in the men's Pro race. They ran the course backward this year, not as fun! I was constantly wondering if I was going the right way. It would of helped to preride. But I have a new respect for the direction that it is usually run, the National will be fun.

Imagine flat cotton fields as far as the eye can see with dead deer carcass's every mile or so. Welcome to San Angelo Texas!!! No, its really not that bad of a place. I've been here about a week and half and I'm finally settled in, six and a half months is a long time but I'm sure I'll make the best of it. I got in alot of riding this week because I hooked up with a local group the first weekend I was here. There's a few big lakes nearby and I've already met a few people with boats, sweet. I've lucked out with the weather so far, there's been a few mornings of freezing temps but for the most part its been in the 60's and 70's during the day. I think the schools going to be a little more time consuming than I thought, so between it and taking two classes from the U of A it's going to be tough to get in as much training on the bike as I had planned but I'm going to give it a shot. Sorry for the pictureless post but one of our camera's broke and I'm waiting to see if I can get it warranted before we buy another one. Stay tuned for San Angelo excitement, yea!!!!!

I am finally recovered a week after bringing in the New Year. We spent the evening with good friends and good food. We went to Bonnie's parents house in Sierra Vista and they live right by the mountains. We started with a trail run before we ate the best Mexican spread. Bonnie spent time in El Salvador in the Peace Corp and had lots of stories. Steve and Bonnie know Mexican food, cheese, cheese and more cheese. We also drank margarita's and Jesse made me do shots called a Mexican Flag. I am a light weight, I was in bed by 11:00 and they all came in at midnight and woke me up with a cheers. Kevin has arrived in the butthole of Texas and seems to be getting settled. He has already done a couple group rides. He went Mt biking today and saw a huge diamond back snake and on his ride home he saw a bunch of wild Buffalo. Our camera broke right before he left so the postings from him might be minamal. I know you all wanted to see some beautiful shots of Texas, but you will have to wait.
