Had another awesome weekend, we got a surf in yesterday and finished it off today with a hike and some good food. Originally we where supposed to hike Mt Kaala but off course it was raining like the last time we attempted it so we decided to do Kolekole pass. I don't think we did the original trail we had planned but we ended up going up a nice ridgeline and summiting where we could see the Waianae coast, Diamond Head and the Koolau's all at one time. Earlier this week I randoming found out that Stacy and John, a friend of mine from back home that I graduated high school with and her husband were going to be on Island, they live in Florida. We figured that we hadn't seen each other for probably 14 yrs. We hung out and had lunch together, it was good to see Stacy and met her husband, good people. Posted by Picasa

Monk Seal sun bathing at Barber's Point. Posted by Picasa
Hawaii is super green right now because of all the rain, and the surf is up on the south shore. Me and Kevin went out this moring 4-6 feet perfect conditions, I tried the short board, very challenging. We are planning a big hike to the tallest peak on the island tomorrow. Mt. Ka'ala. I am very excited to get outdoors and get some great shots. Paddling is on hold for a while after that wipe out. Just does not seem as fun when you get held under water. I have been running and swimming again, so maybe I will do another triathlon before I leave here.  Posted by Picasa

Back to work today. We had an awesome 4 day weekend, had lots of fun and got some house cleaning in. Spring failed to mention that she got raged on by a monster wave on Sunday during her race. She was heading out to bird shit island at the start of her race and was in the wrong place at the wrong time when a big wave broke on top of her. When she came up luckily she was by her boat but she had lost her paddle, it took her awhile to find it plus she was really freaked out so she headed back in. Later in the day she heard that several people had snapped their boats in half so she felt lucky after that. Chalk that one up to a learning experience. We just had a huge thunderstorm with alot of rain, the whole yard was flooded. It was definitely the most rain we've gott since we moved into the new house. Posted by Picasa

Had a good start to the 4 day weekend, I got a ride in and Spring paddled then we went to hike Mt. Olympus. We started late so we didn't make it to the top plus we forgot to charge the batteries for the camera so we only got two pics. Here's Diamond Head from the trail. Posted by Picasa

Happy Valentines Day!

Even though I turned 30 today, it turned out to be a pretty memorable day. I really had a hard time getting motivated to go paddle, because I guess I am getting old, but I finally decided to go out on my boat this morning out of the Ala Wai, by Waikiki. I got out there and much to my surprise 50 dolphins, not kidding. They were all around me. They call them spinner dolphins because they jump out of the water vertically, nose first and spin. They also hit there fins on the top of the water and splash each other, like they were playing. It was so great, it was like they were giving me a show for my birthday. I just paddled around all of them and followed them for a while. I could get so close, it was one of those moments when you wish you had the camera. Hopefully I could give you some kind of a visual, it was amazing. I told some Hawaiian guy and he said, "you know that is good luck to see that many!" Well who could ask for a better birthday present. I guess 30 is not going to be so bad.

Me and Billy went kayaking today, it was a perfect day with no wind and glassy conditions. Hilary happened to see us come into town so she came over to say hi. She took all the pictures, thanks Hilary. Posted by Picasa

I took Spring up to the North Shore today to the Patagonia store and told her to buy whatever she wanted for her birthday. She only bought one skirt so I got off easy. A girl I work with has seven boxer puppies so we stopped by and checked them out, they where awesome. We'd like to get one but I don't think so, maybe in Tucson. Me and dad hit the par 3 tonight, we had a good time and we didn't even hit anybody. I hope the wind is good tomorrow. Posted by Picasa

Barber's Point Friday Evening! I was going down to surf, but pretty small waves. Kevin is kite boarding in Kailua this evening. I am relaxing after a long week of school and running, paddling and biking today. We are going to start a fire tonight and drink a few Corona's. It is a freezing 65-70 this evening. Posted by Picasa

After a quick house cleaning session we decided to go surfing on the westside. We talked to a guy today that had been over there earlier and he said it was good. The waves where perfect at about 6-8 ft but of course as soon as I got the camera out they where gone.  Posted by Picasa
